Vinci deal to purchase Haymills could save construction jobs

HUNDREDS of jobs at facilities management firm Haymills could be saved after the construction firm Vinci came closer to signing a deal today to buy the Stowmarket-based firm.
Haymills, based in Suffolk, employs more than 500 people in the UK, but a decision by the company's bank (the Royal Bank of Scotland) to freeze its overdraft facility, led to the firm going to the open market to look for a buyer.

This resulted in Haymills' administrators-elect receiving four purchase offers on Friday, August 7. The administrators-elect then decided to let French construction firm Vinci Plc buy the business.

The Royal Bank of Scotland's recent decision to freeze the firm's overdraft facility, led to sub-contractors and staff on weekly wages not being paid.
