Viessmann unveils new green facility in Turkey

Viessmann Group recently opened a new production plant in Turkey, which was constructed entirely from environmentally-friendly, low-pollution and recyclable materials.
Viessmann unveils new green facility in Turkey
Located in Manisa, on Turkey's west coast, the plant runs solely on energy from renewable sources. Viessmann Vitovolt solar PV panels located on the plant's roof, supply 60 per cent of the power, while five of the manufacturer's air/water heat pumps provide space heating. The cooling energy produced by the heat pumps alone is expected to be enough to cool the whole plant by 10°C in the summer months, when outdoor temperatures typically reach 36°C.

Viessmann has operated in Turkey for 20 years and the new centre, which will house production of its wall-mounted gas-fired appliances, was built in response to an increase in sales in the country.

Managing director Joachim Schlichtig will head up the new facility. As well as being responsible for the plant meeting the latest standards of sustainable construction, he will also oversee a research and development team on the premises.

As with the other plants in the Viessmann Group, the Manisa factory will use the VitoTop production system. First established by the group ten years ago, the manufacturing approach focuses on value-added processes and waste avoidance.
