Survey aims to attract energy efficiency innovation

BRE and Birmingham City Council are conducting a market survey to get views on procurement from manufacturers and suppliers of innovative energy efficiency technologies for retrofitting public buildings.
The organisations say that the feedback will help the council to get a better insight into the market and could lead to companies being contacted and invited to tender on projects in the future.

BRE and the council are working together to understand the market barriers and opportunities faced by suppliers, including small and medium enterprises. This will enable the council to better appreciate the market's position and create opportunities for innovation through improved procurement processes for energy efficiency technologies.

The survey is part of the Smart Procurement European Alliance (SPEA), a European Commission-funded project for improving access to innovative energy efficiency technologies for retrofitting public buildings in Birmingham, Barcelona and Eindhoven. The overall aim of the initiative is to find ways of encouraging innovative energy efficiency solutions for public buildings across the EU.

The online survey closes on 10 October and can be accessed at http://bit.ly/1do51rL
