SIG urges PM to make Energy Bill Revolution top priority

Following a letter sent to Prime Minister David Cameron by an alliance of more than 100 energy companies, charities and businesses, warning that Britain is heading for a fuel poverty crisis, SIG Energy Management, one of the alliance, has re-emphasised its support for the campaign.
The company's head of marketing, Vince Matthews, said that the Green Deal, launched today, does not go far enough to solve the energy efficiency crisis.

'Using carbon tax revenue to drive efficiency schemes in tandem with Green Deal and the Energy Company Obligation would not only be a financial boon, it would be a declaration of clear intent from the Government. Helping to garner public support, it would also provide businesses with the clarity and certainty they need to commit to investing in energy efficiency - whether that's skills and training, or new technologies.'

Concluding, Mr Matthews said: 'Mr Cameron now needs to make it his personal mission to drag the Energy Bill Revolution onto the agenda. He needs to get MPs talking about it in the Commons, encourage an open and frank discussion about energy efficiency, and ask the question: does Green Deal have any chance of succeeding without greater support from Government coffers?'
