Siemens manager becomes BCIA president

Marketing manager for Siemens Building Technologies, Ian Ellis has been elected president of the Building Controls Industry Association (BCIA).
Siemens manager becomes BCIA president
The BCIA has 55 member companies representing controls manufacturers and systems installers. Established in 2005, the BCIA is one of the members of the Federation of Environmental Trade Associations (FETA). It is described by FETA as the only European forum where controls companies can work together to achieve higher standards in building performance.

Ian Elllis takes over from Doug Robins, who stepped down from the association presidency after three years.

'Our aim is to raise the profile of building controls with the construction industry, building owners and users. I believe that building controls have a major role to play in reducing energy waste in buildings; helping businesses reduce energy bills and carbon emissions,' said Ellis.

'We want to engage with government and other industry bodies through our association with FETA, to ensure that they understand the benefits offered by building controls', he added.

The BCIA aims to work with European standards committees and support legislation related to energy efficiency and environmental protection. It is also focused on developing its building controls training scheme.

Steve Harrison, controls systems manager (Europe) for Johnson Controls, has been elected vice president of the BCIA.
