The Refcom Advisory Committee will operate at summary level to supervise both Refcom's Defra-approved mandatory certification scheme and Refcom Elite's voluntary scheme.

'Setting up the advisory committee will ensure Refcom has the broad industry representation to achieve what the industry wants and needs from a certification scheme,' said Refcom's chief executive, Bruce Kirton.

'Including members of ACRIB and BISRA, as well as contractors and end users, the committee will advise on aspects of scheme management and audit matters, ratify all certificates issued, keep accreditation requirements under review, and review that the scheme's structure continues to meet the requirements of the 2009 F-gas Regulations.

Refcom's voluntary scheme, recently renamed Refcom Elite, was set up in 1994 and Refcom was officially appointed by Defra as an F-gas certification body in July 2009. The voluntary scheme has continued to increase in popularity with hvacr companies keen to demonstrate their dedication to best practice in the safe handling of refrigerants.

'Refcom is the leading F-gas certification body, ensuring best industry practices are being adhered to through Refcom Elite,' added Kirton.

'The advisory board will further enhance this position and solidify our commitment to F-gas certification.'
