Plumbing and heating merchant, PTS, has agreed a co-operation deal with Antaris Solar, the German solar technology provider.
The companies will exhibit jointly at Ecobuild in London next month (stand N2110). Antaris Solar will showcase its two stand-alone, portable photovoltaic systems, the eKiss (short for energy - Keep it simple & safe) and the smaller Mini eKiss. They can be used to generate power in off-grid locations such as stables, outbuildings, sheds, camp sites, hunting cabins or holiday homes. The company says they are also ideal for governments, charities, individuals, aid agencies and churches wanting to fund electricity supplies for families and small businesses in rural areas of the developing world.
Available in four versions covering a power range between 350W and 2,000W, the eKiss system is easy to install and operate and uses maintenance-free AGM batteries for electricity storage. Depending on the configuration, potential applications include washing machines, refrigerators, telephone systems, televisions, laptops, portable power tools, e-bikes, electric golf trolleys and even caravans.
Ian Stares, product director - renewable energy products at PTS, said: 'Although there has been a downturn in the market for solar PV generally, there is a view that the solar PV market will grow steadily in the UK. In addition, we believe there is a market for new innovative solar PV products such as the eKiss products. eKiss is a unique and innovative way of generating power where there is no access to an electrical grid connection. PTS provides a country wide opportunity for consumers and businesses to gain access to the eKiss range for the first time.
