New managing director for Swegon UK and Ireland

Robin Vollert has taken over as managing director of Swegon Group UK and Ireland following the retirement of Kevin Munson.

Robin Vollert, managing director for Swegon Group UK and Ireland.

Industry veteran Mr Munson was appointed managing director of the company in 2003, having previously served as its sales director. He steered the business, latterly known as Ruskin Air Management, through a number of ownership changes before it was eventually acquired by Swegon in 2016.

“This is a great industry and I have loved every minute of my career,” said Mr Munson, who first joined the industry in 1985 with Sound Attenuators in Colchester.

“Some people might question if it is possible to say that with all the everyday stresses and strains, but it is all about having a positive attitude and focusing on the opportunities. There have been some amazing technological developments during my time and these have opened up new markets and new possibilities for our products and our expertise.

“For example, the increased focus on indoor air quality as a result of greater awareness of its influence on human health has had a dramatic impact on our industry in recent years.”

However, Mr Munson has made the decision to hand over the reins as the company embarks on a five-year strategic growth plan which requires management continuity.

Transition

“The transition to being part of the Swegon Group has gone well and we have already seen the benefits,” said Mr Munson. “It now makes sense for me to hand over to Robin, who has in-depth knowledge of the UK and Irish markets. He has also been working with me for more than a year, so already knows our company very well.”

Mr Vollert, who has moved across from his position as sales vice president at Swegon Group in Sweden, paid tribute to Mr Munson and thanked him for his long and dedicated service: “Kevin has done a fantastic job and deserves to enjoy a wonderful and long retirement. He leaves the company in great shape and poised to embark on its next phase of growth.”

Mr Vollert spent 16 years with IMI’s indoor climate division before joining Swegon in 2013. He is a member of the international group’s main board and will now be based in London.

Mr Vollert said: “This is a very exciting time for anyone involved in our business. Swegon Group is looking to continue its international expansion with a focus on key European geographies while continuing to be a leading global player in HVAC and indoor climate, contributing to improved indoor environmental quality (IEQ).

“The UK and Ireland will play an important part in that growth and we see some great opportunities to grow existing product lines into new markets and launch new products, as well as consolidating in the areas where we are already strong. We want to do our very best to offer a superior customer experience.”
