New data reveals increasing consumer interest in Green Deal

More than 71,000 Green Deal assessments have now been completed according to the latest Green Deal and Energy Company Obligation (ECO) statistics published today (19 September).
According to the new monthly figures, 71,210 Green Deal assessments were lodged up to the end of August, up from 58,124 at the end of July. The 13,086 GD Assessments in August was four per cent lower than the number in July (13,645).

There were 677 Green Deal Plans in the system for individual properties at the end of August, compared to 419 at the end of July. Of these, 293 were 'new' Green Deal Plans (quote accepted), 372 had moved to 'pending' (plan signed) and 12 were 'live' (measures installed).

By the end of August, 8,404 cashback vouchers had been issued. Of these, 5,733 vouchers had been paid (following installation of measures) with a value of £1.6 million. The majority of vouchers paid to date were in June and virtually all have been for boiler replacements, the statistics reveal.

As regards Green Deal Providers, a total of 101 had been authorised up to the end of August. The new figures also show that 269 GD Assessor Organisations and the 2,332 GD Advisors they employ had been accredited up to the end of August.

Energy and Climate Change Minister Greg Barker said: 'It is still early days for the new Green Deal market but encouragingly over 71,000 Green Deal assessments have now been completed. There is clearly growing consumer interest but crucially, assessments are also inspiring action - new research this week shows that 81% of households who had a Green Deal assessment said they have, are getting, or intend to install at least one energy saving measure.'
