New appointment for HETAS' SBAS scheme

Mark Russell has been appointed project manager for the new HETAS Solid Biomass Assurance Scheme (SBAS).
New appointment for HETAS
With the rapidly expanding biomass market, the new SBAS scheme is aimed at ensuring biomass and wood fuel meets specified standards.

HETAS has introduced the biomass fuel quality scheme covering logs, wood chip, pellets and briquettes, to help the public identify quality wood fuel suppliers and increase customer confidence that there is a reliable supply chain for a safe, efficient fuel.

The scheme has been launched with the support of government funding from the Department of Environment and Climate Change (DECC).

Commercial and domestic biomass producers can have products approved on the scheme and use the recognised HETAS SBAS logo to provide customers with a mark of quality assurance.

Mark Russell's experience lies in solid fuel and biomass supply chains. He joins HETAS from the Severn Wye Energy Agency.

An application pack for the SBAS scheme can be downloaded from HETAS
