Gas safety specialist S&S Northern’s Merlin system proved to be the magic ingredient for Hell’s Kitchen 4.
The ITV television series starring celebrity Chef Marco Pierre White, features a new line up of celebrities cooking competitively in front of a celebrity audience.
The contestants may have included ex-Dynasty actress Linda Evans (aka Linda Carrington), former Liverpool goalie Bruce Grobellar and singer Miss Dynamite but the equipment playing an essential role was S&S Northern’s gas safety system which was installed in Hell's kitchen.
The company’s Merlin 1250s panel interlocks the gas valve with the kitchen’s ventilation system and has an in-built current monitor that ensures the fan is running before the gas valve can open. This is required to comply with BS 6173, the health and safety standard which states that gas should not be used if the ventilation system is not working. The standard applies to new kitchens or kitchens which are undergoing a major refurbishment.
The company’s director Steve McMahon said: “We love the Hell’s Kitchen TV show and are delighted to have been selected to help ensure the safety of so many celebrities as they do culinary battle.”
