Graham Manly, business development director at Gratte Brothers, has been awarded the OBE in the New Year Honours list for services to the building services sector.
President of the HVCA in 2009/10, Mr Manly is also a past president of CIBSE, a former chairman of the Building Services Research and Information Association and a board member of Summit Skills.
Mr Manly was managing director of A G Manly & Co from 1982 until its acquisition by Gratte Brothers in July 2000.
A chartered engineer, a fellow of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) and a member of the Institute of Refrigeration, Mr Manly served as CIBSE president in 2004/05.
He was chairman of the Building Services Research and Information Association from 1991 to 1993, and has served on the board of SummitSkills, the sector skills council for building services engineering, since its formation in 2003.
Mr Manly was a member of the HVCA Council from 1986 to 1995, to which he returned, as president elect, in 2008. He currently serves as chairman of the Association's Communications Committee, and has been a member of its Technical Committee for almost 40 years.
He was educated at the National College of Heating, Ventilating, Refrigeration and Fan Engineering (now part of London South Bank University).
