Liquid fuels trade body launches green award 2022

Trade association the UK and Ireland Fuel Distributors Association (UKIFDA) has begun its annual search for the most environmentally-friendly companies that are supporting a decarbonised future, with the launch of its Green Award 2022.

The Green Award, now in its fourth year, a provider of insurance and risk management services to the liquid fuels distribution industry – raises awareness of all the environmental initiatives taking place within the liquid fuel distribution industry and rewards the companies leading the way for sustainability within the sector.

“We are massively proud of our Green Award, which we give to a worthy winner each year,” said Ken Cronin, UKIFDA Chief Executive.

“Last year’s Green Award winner was Crown Oil Ltd – and they won for many reasons, including for their heavy involvement in the first renewable liquid fuel trials, the subsequent extended demonstration projects that are still ongoing in homes across the country and in the Future Fuels initiative as well as for running their entire fleet on Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO).

“For 2022, we are looking for businesses totally committed to achieving a decarbonised future for the liquid fuel distribution sector and able to demonstrate an outstanding environmental performance.

“The standard for winning our Green Award is high and we’re excited to see the nominations from across the UK and Republic of Ireland for our 2022 award – and look forward to celebrating the green achievements of the past year.”

UKIFDA is looking for companies to enter for the Green Award 2022, who can demonstrate one of the following:

• Initiatives for reducing waste or for better recycling

• New technology that cuts carbon emissions at a depot or residential property

• New fuel or additive that cuts emissions at a depot or residential property

• Risk management policies that reduce spills

• Support for charities making a positive impact on the environment

The winner of the Green Award 2022 will be announced at the UKIFDA EXPO Reunion Dinner on the first evening of the exhibition on 27 April 2022, when everyone is able to come together for the event after a break of three years with no physical EXPO.

The closing date for entries for the Green Award 2022 is 7 March 2022.
