Kensa Engineering has been named Business of the Year at the Western Morning News Awards.
The announcement was made in front of more than 330 South West business leaders and innovators on 21 November at a glittering event in Plymouth.
Kensa's Shoebox heat pump was also shortlisted for Innovation of the Year at the awards.
Next year the company celebrates its 15th anniversary.
Managing director, Simon Lomax, said: 'Approaching our 15th anniversary we couldn't have asked for a more appropriate end to 2013. In the last five years we have seen Kensa's turnover increase five-fold, and staff numbers increase by a third in 12 months.'
He continued: 'This performance is made even more remarkable due to the overall ground source heat pump market declining during this period due to delays in government subsidy programmes.'
'The market for ground source heat pumps is near boiling point. We are all poised for the RHI Phase 1 tariff increases and RHI Phase 2 launch in spring. Added to this the expected plummeting temperatures through the winter, we expect demand for ground source heat pumps to peak, and Kensa is aligning itself to best maximise the opportunity for installers, end users and industry,' Mr Lomax concluded.
