ISH 2019 sees Viessmann announce strategic transformation in wake of growth

Viessmann has announced its strategic transformation from a heating technology manufacturer to a provider of integrated solutions for the entire living space, emphasising its role in “creating habitats” for future generations at the ISH Energy trade fair in Frankfurt, while declaring a rise in global sales of around five per cent in 2018 to 2.5 billion euros.

Viessmann’s new corporate strategy will see continued sustainable business growth for both itself and its installer partners through the development of climate solutions that use the right energy sources. Viessmann platforms will enable heat, cooling and ventilation products and systems to be seamlessly connected to digital services.

Viessmann Group chief executive, Martin Viessmann, said: “By replacing existing heating systems with a modern Viessmann solution, household carbon footprint can be reduced by an average of one tonne per year. Worldwide, Viessmann is responsible for saving 500,000 tonnes of CO2 each year. With global carbon dioxide emissions of more than 37 billion tonnes, there is still a lot to be done to protect the climate. At Viessmann, we want to make our contribution.”

In 2018, Viessmann sales were particularly strong in the home market of Germany where there was an increase of more than six per cent. Russia, Poland, the UK, Spain and North America saw double digit growth.

By far the strongest product segment growth in 2018 was Viessmann’s Vitovalor fuel cell heating system, sales of which doubled to well over 2,000 units. The trend towards highly efficient heat pumps has continued, with sales increasing by approximately 20 per cent in this segment.

The number of employees in the Viessmann Group remained largely constant at 12,000, reflecting the sale of a Viessmann company, WESO, last year. In total, more than 1,600 new employees were hired throughout the group.
