The HVCA has gained ISO 9001:2000 quality assurance certification for its membership handling and review processes.
Every three years, HVCA member companies are subject to a third-party inspection to assess technical and commercial competence.
Association secretary Tony Godby said certification had initially been sought for the HVCA's role as a TrustMark scheme operator, which helps householders identify tradespeople that reliably and competently deliver at a fair price.
Godby said 'However, this was subsequently widened to include all of the procedures surrounding the operation of the HVCA independent member inspection and assessment regime,' said Mr Godby.
The ISO assessment examined staffing procedures, personnel checks, resource management processes and additional services provided by the HVCA's membership department.
