Huttie expands into renewable energy

Cambridge plumbing and electrical contractor, Huttie, has created a new Renewable Energy Division, headed up by Jim Harvey, to meet growing demand for renewable energy installation in Cambridgeshire and beyond.

Huttie was established by managing director James Hutt in 2007 and has ambitious growth plans.

Jim Harvey, the company’s new director of renewable energy, has extensive experience in the renewable energy industry and qualified as a surveyor after undertaking an MA in Property Investment and Management. This solidified his interest in land use and renewable energy and fuelled his passion for how the UK can develop these resources.

He went on to become an associate director at WYG Global Consultancy, focusing on renewable energy for clients, energy reviews, sustainability and design consultation before becoming head of renewable energy at Mark Group, the UK’s biggest renewable energy installer. This role focussed on business development through bids, tenders and PQQs, and also technical work through operational support, procurement and analysis of pricing structures and business.

He later became head of market intelligence at the Department of Energy and Climate Change in London, advising the Government on the impact of the growing business of renewable energy, before creating his own consultancy business in Nottingham, working in renewable energy development.

Solar PV, solar thermal, air source heat pumps and biomass will be the main technologies Huttie Renewable Energy will design, supply, install and commission.

Huttie’s managing director, James Hutt, said ”We are excited about the new opportunities to help our clients in renewable energy installation and design, and delighted to have appointed a new Director of Renewable Energy, Jim Harvey, who joins us with a wealth of experience in this new industry.”
