HPA welcomes RHI update statement

The Heat Pump Association (HPA) says it welcomes the DECC's recent RHI update statement, which focused in particular on the low uptake of Ground Source Heat Pump systems compared to other technologies currently supported.
According to the association, the review of the underpinning assumptions needs to be transparent and conducted swiftly so that prompt and appropriate action can be taken, particularly in regard to current installation costs and load factors used. However, it is concerned about the lack of a defined timescale and clarity surrounding the review process.

In addition to the tariff itself, the HPA feels that uncertainty about the availability of the tariff level on final completion of the project is just as significant with such long term installations as GSHP. Therefore, it says, the commitment to further develop the non-domestic RHI based on the recent consultations to provide 'certainty to the market' is very welcome.
