Mock the week comedian Michael McIntyre was far from joking when he congratulated Hollyoaks for its 'contribution to gas safety' at the CORGI Awards.
Hollyoaks character Amy Barnes played by actress Ashley Slanina-Davies, took the limelight to pick up the 'Contribution to gas safety award', on behalf of the Channel 4 soap's production team.
The TV soap won the award for incorporating carbon monoxide awareness messages in their storyline.
The award sponsored by the CORGI Trust appeared for the first time at this year's awards ceremony.
Seventeen awards were handed out at the ‘Oscars of gas industry’ hosted by Michael McIntyre in Coventry on September 11.
Baxi's Duo-tec Combi 28 HE boiler was named 'Boiler of the Year' for its high efficiency ratings, low NOx emissions (Nitrogen Oxide and how easy it is to install. The CORGI Awards judges said Baxi’s boiler design plays a critical role in producing energy efficient boilers that help reduce emissions and cost to the person using it.
Premier Energy Solutions was named the UK’s Installer of the Year.
Judges said they got the award for their ability to clearly demonstrate a well-trained and multi-skilled workforce and their commitment to deliver balance in the community.
Ocean Services won the award for being the most energy efficient installer.
The gas safety product of the year award went to Anton's Sprint V2 Multi-Purpose Flue Gas Analyser.

The CORGI awards is now in its fourth year.
This month, the Health and Safety Executive handed the gas installer registration scheme contract to Capita Group Plc. Its new gas scheme will run from the April 1, 2009 and will replace the gas scheme currently being operated by CORGI
A spokesman for CORGI said “ We will continue to run the CORGI Awards in the future “.
