Flogas hosts free biomass event

Flogas, a leading provider of turnkey biomass energy solutions and fuel supply to the non-domestic sector, is hosting a free event designed to help businesses and organisations to find out more about how biomass could reduce their energy costs, lower their carbon emissions and help them move away from a costly dependence on fossil fuels.

The event will be held at Cranfield University in Bedfordshire on Wednesday 16 March, from 10am – 2pm.

A host of industry specialists will be on hand to explain how biomass can benefit high energy users, and why there’s never been a better time to invest. Attendees will also have the chance to meet with the experts individually at a series of 1-2-1 advice clinics. These will be held before and after the main event (8-10am & 2.30-6pm) and provide a unique chance for businesses to hear first-hand how biomass systems can be tailor-made to meet their exact requirements.

Visitors on the day will be given a full guided tour of Cranfield University’s own biomass system in action, which was recently installed to future-proof its energy supply and help protect against long-term energy price increases. The university will be showcasing how it integrated a 950kW Flogas biomass boiler into its existing district heating system and how it can now deliver 24/7 heating and hot water to 34 campus buildings, while saving up to 500 tonnes of CO2 each year.

Flogas head of renewable, Greg Hilton, said: “This event is actually back by popular demand. We had such a strong response the first time round that we’re now planning to host a series of events at various working biomass sites throughout the coming year. High energy users up and down the country, across a wide range of industries, are increasingly interested to see and hear how biomass can cut costs and carbon while delivering true energy security for the future.”

He added: “The case for biomass has been enhanced further by the government’s recent spending review, which saw a £1.15bn investment pledge in the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) per year by 2020/21. This means the opportunity is particularly strong for those looking for an impressive return on investment and guaranteed long term payments for the renewable heat they generate.”
