Ventilation products manufacturer Fläkt Woods has completed its first UK Mobile Smoke Roadshow. The event, which was held at the QEII Conference Centre in Westminster, was attended by professionals from the building services industry, as well as VIP guests Business Secretary Vince Cable MP and Sir Bob Russell MP.
Attracting more than 300 visitors on its travels, the Roadshow also called in at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff and the Lancashire County Cricket Ground, Manchester.
During the event, delegates were shown a live fire demonstration to highlight the effectiveness of the latest range of CE marked smoke and fire dampers in commercial and residential applications.
Fläkt Woods managing director Allan Hurdle said: 'Having the opportunity to show visitors a live demonstration has really helped stress the importance and effectiveness of fire dampers in real life situations. It was great to have so many building services engineers as well as Members of Parliament supporting the event, and we're sure they found it to be a valuable and interesting experience.'
In addition to the demonstration, Fläkt Woods ran three CIBSE accredited CPD presentations. The first focused on reducing total building emissions and the use of high efficiency energy recovery, followed by a session examining the danger of smoke in buildings. The concluding presentation concentrated on CE and EN certificated smoke control products.
