Earth Energy moves to buy Scottish heatpump firm
'The acquisition of Earthwise Scotland is a real boost to our growth in Scotland' said Earth Energy's managing director Brian Kennelly. 'We have a strong regional structure to ensure that all projects are managed locally and the team at Earthwise will complement our existing staff in Scotland to boost the service we can offer on ground source projects in Scotland', he said.

Earth Energy (owned by the GeoScience group) specialises in the design and installation of ground source heat pumps. The firm said both firms were enjoying growth at an average rate of 300% a year.

Earthwise Scotland, based in Kemany By Inverurie in Aberdeenshire, has experienced rapid growth in the last 5 years and has expanded to offer geotechnical and installation services to the domestic and commercial sectors of the building industry.

A spokesman for Earth Energy said 'As the demand for carbon-efficient building grows, and fuel prices continue to spiral, the recognition of the value of renewable heating has focussed on heat pumps, which have become a mainstream technology in UK'.

Earthwise Scotland's managing director Jonathan Wilson said 'This investment will enable us to accelerate our growth and expand our services into social housing and larger construction projects'.
