Cofely has been awarded ISO 50001 for Energy Management.
The company claims to be the first in its sector to attain a UK-based certification and says the achievement has drawn heavily on its experience of managing customers' energy performance.
Cofely offices providing technical, FM, industrial energy services and support service functions have all achieved the standard.
In the UK, Cofely has partnered with BM Trada to achieve the standard as part of the UKAS (UK Accreditation Service) pilot since July 2012. It has developed a robust Energy Management System (EnMS) to meet energy performance objectives. The scope of the certification includes employee awareness and behaviours, initiatives to reduce energy consumption and regular audits to review and improve energy performance, all required by the standard.
Ceo of Cofely UK, Colin Hale, said: 'Cofely has been improving the energy performance of customers' assets for many years, while also taking measures to minimise our own environmental impact. This recently introduced standard has enabled us to formalise and document those processes and embed a philosophy of continuous improvement throughout the company.'
Cofely also has certification to ISO 50001 in many of its other international businesses including France, Germany and Italy.
