Christmas crooks steal church's heat

Heating oil thieves have robbed a church for the second time - bringing cold comfort for the All Saints congregation.
Fuel raiders stole heating oil from All Saints Church in Bexhill-On-Sea this month, causing £5,000 worth of damage including the loss of one thousand litres of fuel - worth £1,000.

The church first became the victim of a heating heist four months ago, by what is believed to be an organised gang. Last August, £300 worth of heating fuel was siphoned off from the church's fuel tank.

The latest raid has led the church to say a prayer of thanks for the work of heating engineers Maskells of Eastbourne, who brought specialist equipment and a large lorry to filter and save 1,300 litres of fuel.

However the loss of 1,000 litres will cost the church dearly. Despite the financial blow, the church is determined to warm up its worshippers this Christmas and has hired two Calor gas cabinet heaters and four industrial-sized electric turbo heaters to do the job.
