BSRIA to speak and exhibit at Smart Buildings Show

BSRIA will be speaking and exhibiting at the Smart Buildings Show 2018, taking place on November 7-8 at the Barbican, London.

BSRIA's Lone Hansen.

The BSRIA team will be present at stand B6, where colleagues will highlight the member offering which covers practical guidance, networks, webinars and discounted training, online access to business and technical information, and influence on policy.

BSRIA’s expert speaker is Lone Hansen, senior manager – IT cabling, BACS and associated technologies in BSRIA’s World Market Intelligence division. Ms Hansen specialises in Internet of Things (IoT) in commercial buildings, and will present on Thursday November 8 on ‘convergence – IoT in commercial buildings’.

Ms Hansen said: “The trend towards everything being connectable is evident, with increasing uptake of IP enabled products, increasing use of open protocols such as BACnet and more intelligent controllers and gateways.

“However, concerns about cyber security, limited new build compared to existing (old) buildings, lack of education and skills in the industry and, in many cases, issues with integration of various protocols and standards is holding growth back.”

John Hatcher, conference director, said: “The conference at this year’s Smart Buildings Show promises to be the most comprehensive in the industry. With speakers from organisations such as BSRIA, JLL, Microsoft and IBM, buildings owners, FMs and specifiers are bound to gather information to make their smart buildings decisions easier.

“There are also two panel debates, with one focusing on well-being and the health benefits of smart buildings. There is also a large exhibition to see, plus entry is free for both the conference and exhibition.”

The Smart Buildings Show already has an impressive list of exhibitors and speakers. Exhibitors include BEG, Beckhoff Automation, Distech Controls, ENGIE, Priva UK and Schneider Electric. A full list is available here.

Speakers from companies such as IBM, JLL, KNX UK, Microsoft and Synapsys will be giving their view of the commercial smart buildings market. There will also be a training hub with a range of CPD courses.
