BSRIA is backing a report by the Committee on Climate change that calls for an urgent action plan to deliver low-carbon heat and energy efficient homes.
In its recent Reducing emissions and preparing for climate change progress report, the Committee on Climate Change, amongst other recommendations, advised the Government to extend funding for low carbon electricity generation to 2025, to support investment and innovation and to continue cutting costs; and to agree an action plan that delivers low-carbon heat and efficiency to allow homes to be heated for less while addressing the risks from high temperatures and flooding
BSRIA chief executive Julia Evans said: “Delivering the change that is required to meet the carbon emission targets will require long term investment from industry; this will only happen if they have the confidence to do so. We need Government to act early and set out their plans. This will not only ensure that the UK stays on track to deliver on its targets but will also create opportunities for manufacturer and service industries.”
