BEST shines in Wales

At the Wales Training Group HVACR Awards, four BEST (Building Engineering Services Training) apprentices, won four out of the seven award categories.

The awards took which place at The Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff, saw Mathew Murray, Garry Jones, Neil Reynolds and Daniel Lewis; scoop the awards for their sector.

Mathew Murray, who is employed by George S Hall, was awarded the Highly Commended Electrical Apprentice award.

Garry Jones, who is employed by F P Hurley & Sons, was awarded the Intermediate H&V Apprentice award.

Neil Reynolds, who is employed by CMB Engineering, was awarded the Advanced H&V Apprentice award.

Daniel Lewis, who is employed by S C Moore (Mechanical & Electrical), was awarded the Junior H&V Apprentice award.

Robert Higgs OBE; chief executive of the HVCA, said: 'To our future engineers I say... Wow! - What a great time for you to be in an industry that can offer and will deliver so much. You will save the world! And I congratulate you, the award winners. You are the future of our industry - you are the stars of the evening. I wish you great success.'

Mark Brenner, chief executive of BEST said: 'At BEST we aim to open all graduations of personal accomplishment to those operating in the building services engineering trades. This means building connections with further education, higher education and the relevant professional bodies to create pathways for seamless progression.'

The winners were awarded with a £50 gift voucher, a framed certificate and an engraved trophy.
