BBES apprentices take third place in national challenge

Eight apprentices from Balfour Beatty Engineering Services (BBES) working on the Sellafield Site recently came third in the Brathay Apprentice Challenge 2012.
BBES apprentices take third place in national challenge
The contest comprises three tasks in which eight teams of apprentices compete against each other in a series of challenges designed to test abilities, from business acumen to physical endurance.

One part of the challenge involved a charity fundraiser in which the BBES team completed 200 miles between them on a variety of gym equipment and raised £9,000 for Help for Heroes - their chosen charity.

Another task required the teams to set up pages on social networking sites to raise awareness of the Brathay Challenge and apprenticeships. The BBES team came in joint first place for this.

In the final two-day event the teams competed against each other at the Brathay Trust in Cumbria where their problem solving, teamwork and physical abilities were tested.

Aerospace firm, Cobham, took first place. The other competitors were Bentley Motors, the Co-operative, MBDA Missile Systems, the National Apprenticeship Service, Rolls-Royce and Virgin Media.
