B&ES names recipient of Outstanding Service Award
Mr Hurst is a long-serving member of B&ES Council and chairman of its Heating & Plumbing Services (HAPS) Group.

B&ES president, Sue Sharp, who made the presentation to Mr Hurst, said that the Outstanding Service Award existed to reward the 'unsung heroes' among its membership who 'have rendered extra-special service to the Association and its activities'.

'In other words, those amongst us who do not seek high office - but whose contribution is nevertheless both valuable and sustained over many years,' she explained.

She described Mr Hurst as one of the Association's 'quiet men', who 'does not feel the need to speak on every issue, but whose words, when they are offered, are always positive, helpful and to the point'.

John Hurst has been a member of the B&ES Council since 2006 - initially representing the West Midlands Region, and more recently as a representative of the HAPS Group, of which he is currently chairman, having previously chaired the group's Coventry branch.

'Add to this his membership of the Education and Membership standing committees and his former chairmanship of the West Midlands Training Group, and I am sure you will agree that there could be a no more deserving recipient of the B&ES Outstanding Service Award than John Hurst,' the president concluded.

Mr Hurst, who is training manager with NPower Business and Social Housing, in Staffordshire, received the award following the spring meeting of the B&ES Council.
