B&ES names new president

Sue Sharp has been elected president of B&ES (Building & Engineering Services Association) for 2012/13 at its agm on 19 July.

Bruce Bisset of Galloway Group became president elect and Andy Sneyd of Crown House Technologies was elected vice president. Bob Shelley of Argent FM will serve during 2012/13 as immediate past president.

Sue Sharp joined the building engineering services sector in 1987 when she was appointed office manager by Overclean Ltd, the Devon-based ventilation hygiene specialist, which has been a member of the association since 1996.

In 1996 she became operations director of Overclean and managing director two years later. She was md until 2007, when she became a non-executive director of the company.

She also runs a management consultancy - Sharp Business Solutions - which offers a range of business services to small businesses, many of which are active in the heating, plumbing and electrical sectors. On a voluntary basis, she is involved in a mentoring scheme established by the National Enterprise Network, which grants businesses start-up loans to the unemployed.

Sue has been a member of the Council of the Association since 2003, and was chairman of its Service & Facilities Group from 2010 to 2012. She also served as chairman of the South West Regional Branch for four years from 2005.

She was elected vice president of the association in July 2010 and then president elect in July 2011.
