Amber Stewart was awarded the Special Achievement Award at Willmott Dixon's annual Apprentice Awards, following recognition from both her college and work colleagues.
The 24 year old, from Fulham, has been given the accolade for her dedication and enthusiasm in her work as an apprentice plumber and gas engineer with Willmott Dixon Partnerships - Willmott Dixon Group's repair and maintenance specialist.
Amber works on Willmott Dixon Partnership's contract with Hammersmith & Fulham Homes to provide a full reactive repairs service in the south of the borough and also carry out repairs to void properties across its entire 13,500 housing stock.
A company-wide judging panel chose her for the award because of her commitment to training and putting tenants' needs first.
Ms Stewart was nominated as a high achiever at her college and shortlisted for the 'Best Under 25 Apprentice' category of the Women in Construction Awards earlier this year. She has recently completed her NVQ level 3 plumbing and gas qualifications.
Ms Stewart said: 'My dad has always worked in the trade and I helped him when I was younger. I hated the idea of being stuck behind a desk all day and wanted to do something practical, so got a placement at a college five years ago and then started working for Willmott Dixon. I really love my job because its so hands on, and people rely on me and need my help to fix problems in their homes.'
Willmott Dixon Partnerships works with social housing landlords, currently providing support services to over 100,000 homes, 1,200 public buildings and 50 commercial properties across the UK.
