AMP Air receives long-service award from Toshiba

AMP Air has been recognised by Toshiba as one of its most successful and long-standing air conditioning distributors.

AMP Air has been recognised by Toshiba as one of its most successful and long-standing air conditioning distributors.

Following a decade of growth and success, the company was presented with a special award at Toshiba’s recent strategy conference held in Manchester.

Polly McConachie, who founded AMP with fellow director Martin Michaelson, said: “We are really pleased to receive this award and recognition from Toshiba. We have come a long way since taking on the brand in 2004 and it has become a core part of our business.”

“Our aim from the beginning was to supply top quality equipment from premium manufacturers and this approach has paid off. We look forward to continuing to work closely with the company to build on this success over the coming months and years,” she added.

Since it was established in 1989, AMP has become one of the UK’s most successful independent air conditioning distributors. It celebrated its silver jubilee year last year, and announced exciting expansion plans.

AMP began business with a small office and warehouse in north London and three members of staff. Now based in Welwyn Garden City and with another branch in Bristol, the firm has achieved year-on-year growth, with its best year ever in 2014. It employs 42 staff across both locations.

AMP has always put a strong emphasis on the people element and technical excellence, reflected in its continuing focus on training. Six senior staff recently completed the NVQ Level 3 course in Management following a nine month course of external study and on-the-job training, and a further six employees gained an NVQ Level 2 in Customer Services.

The company is now creating an enlarged Toshiba training facility at Welwyn Garden City headquarters, to offer the full range of Toshiba theoretical and practical air conditioning courses.
