All change: CORGI Trust consults on a new name

In an effort to demonstrate its independence from CORGI, the CORGI Trust is consulting with members about changing its name.
As of April 1, 2009, the registration of gas installers is now operated by Capita under the 'Gas Safe Register' brand. CORGI lost the job of running the scheme after the Health and Safety Executive granted Capita the work.

Mary Benwell, chair of trustees, said 'Given this significant change in the gas safety environment, the CORGI Trust is considering how it can now demonstrate its independence from CORGI more clearly. CORGI Trust members have agreed that this will require a change of name and Trustees are about to consult with members on the proposed name, and expect to announce the new name and website details shortly'.

The 20 members of the CORGI Trust are scheduled to vote on the proposed name in May.
