Air curtains gain favour in Eastern Europe

UK air curtain manufacturer Thermoscreens is reporting a significant rise in the number of Eastern European retailers using air curtain technology and has seen an increase in its export sales as a result.
Many UK retailers have installed air curtains over recent years and there has been significant effort in the last few years to highlight the negative economic and environmental consequences of retailers leaving their doors open if there is not an air curtain installed.

Launched in 2011, the 'Close the Door' campaign reported that UK businesses spend around £1.6bn, of which 20 per cent is wasted due to poor practices. Many UK retailers have therefore been installing air curtains in a bid to cut bills, as well as carbon emissions.

Many of these retailers have been expanding into the Eastern European region, equipping new stores with air curtains just as they have been in the UK and Western Europe. As a result, these shops are free to retail with their doors open, without risking huge energy losses.

Josyanne Bardavid, export manager at Thermoscreens, said: 'With so many Spanish, French and British chain stores emerging throughout the Eastern European region fitted with Thermoscreens air curtain technology, there has been an increase in demand amongst local, rival stores to also kit themselves out with the same or similar equipment.'
