Zehnder buys Greenwood
[firstParagraph]
Ventilation manufacturer Greenwood Air Management has been bought by the Zehnder Group.
The Swiss-based group's acquisition of Greenwood, from building group Aliaxis, is aimed at firming up Zehnder's position in the UK as a major supplier of heating and ventilating products.
The Greenwood company can be traced back to Manchester, where Thomas Wootton Greenwood founded a ventilation company in 1879. Greenwood will benefit from Zehnder's research and development facilities, to support its new product development programme.
The Zehnder Group first entered the European domestic ventilation market in 2001 and is now the market leader in Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxumbourg.
With Greenwood's contribution, global sales of Zehnder's ventilation products are expected to reach £76.5m in 2009.
Tony Twohig, managing director of Greenwood, said, 'This is good news for Greenwood and Zehnder Group. The synergy created by this relationship will help to fast track our expansion plans.
'It will also strengthen our combined sustainability credentials, as we are both committed to designing and manufacturing stylish and energy efficient products that contribute to improving the indoor environment'.
