WEMS International doubles sales to £11.9m

WEMS International, the Stockport-based manufacturer and installer of wireless energy management systems, posted operating profits of £700,000 for the year to July 31 on turnover of £11.9 million. In the previous 12 months the firm made losses of £100,000 on sales of £5.7m. It last made a profit in 2007.
The company also increased staff numbers from 47 to 79 and plans to double its workforce over the next two years.

Launched in 1990, the firm - formerly known as ADAM International - counts BT, Dunelm, Rank, Boots and Fitness First among its clients. Its systems manage lighting, heating, air conditioning and other installations across multi-site operations.

Chief executive Ivan McKeever said: 'At the start of 2011, we implemented a fast-paced development strategy to help drive this dynamic and revolutionary company into new territories, both at home and abroad.

'I'm extremely confident that, as we develop new partnerships and continue to achieve significant energy savings for clients, we'll expand our growing footprint in the global energy management market.'
