Gareth Vaughan, the managing director of ductwork specialist E Poppleton & Son, has been elected president of the HVCA.
Vaughan has been managing director of E Poppleton & Son based in Wales, since 1989.
He succeeds retiring president John Miller, of J H Shouksmith & Sons.
Gareth Vaughan has been a member of the HVCA council, and the Executive Committee of the association’s Ductwork group, since 1997.
A spokesman for the HVCA said 'Throughout his career, he has shown a commitment to vocational education and training and, during his period as managing director, Poppleton has won a number of prestigious awards.'
Gareth Vaughan became president-elect of the HVCA in July 2007 and succeeded to the HVCA presidency at its AGM on July 10.
At the same meeting, Graham Manly of Gratte Brothers was elected HVCA president-elect.
Vaughan said 'Surely at no other time in history had there been so many practical issues to face, so many practical problems to solve and so many practical difficulties to overcome, simply to ensure the long-term health and safety of the planet.
“We can all make a difference – in a global context – by doing our jobs to the very best of our ability, and by using our knowledge, and our expertise, for the good of all,” he said.
