Transtherm builds engineering team

Leading innovator of dry and adiabatic water cooling technologies, Transtherm, has strengthened its sales team of skilled mechanical engineers with the appointment of applications engineer, Robert Amuna, and engineering apprentice, Ethan Steadman.

Mr Amuna joins the team from an international placement working in thermal power, bringing with him a passion for heat transfer theory and a knowledge base which allows him to work across the spectrum of Transtherm products when selecting and designing cooling plant.

Working specifically for power generation and data science sectors, he will work directly with new and existing clients to meet their cooling requirements with data-driven specification and bespoke plant design.

Starting his engineering apprenticeship with Transtherm’s trade and OEM sector, Mr Steadman has joined the team on a three-year apprenticeship programme through Apprenticeship Direct.

Supported by senior members of the team, he will complete his customer service apprenticeship while learning to design and specify Transtherm’s full portfolio of cooling equipment.

Tim Bound, sales director for Transtherm, commented on the importance of apprentices to the business: “When specifying such a technical product, across a variety of niche industries, we believe it is hugely advantageous to grow your own talent through apprenticeships.

“Our sales team is made up of highly skilled mechanical engineers who use their education and industry experience to work with customer to produce the best possible solutions. This is a key point of difference for us and one which we seek to maintain by nurturing the skills of enthusiastic young engineers who are willing to learn from the bottom, up.”

Nick Bound, Transtherm’s managing director, added: “We are proud to be one of the only manufacturers in our sector with a sales team which is made up of engineers with a range of backgrounds, including mechatronics, business management, mechanical engineering and robotics. It is this technical approach to customer sales, alongside our quality manufacturing ethos, which gives our cooling plant the competitive edge.

“As our sales team becomes more attuned to the specific industries we service, it is important that we build our team with strategic appointments and apprentice training opportunities and we are delighted to welcome Robert and Ethan to the team.”
