Toshiba Air Conditioning has introduced what it claims is the industry's first seven year warranty.
The company launched a five year warranty a few years ago and says that its seven year version provides unrivalled protection and reassurance for installers and end users.
David Dunn, the company's commercial director, said: 'The new warranty gives people total peace of mind, and is based on the proven reliability of our products and their ability to maintain performance over many years of operational life.'
Under the previous warranty scheme, in the unlikely event of a component such as a PCB failing, the installer would receive a new PCB plus £28 towards labour costs. Although this did not cover the full labour cost of replacing the part, it was in line with industry practice.
Under the new scheme, Toshiba would supply a new PCB and pay out £175, which it says is a realistic cost for the engineer to carry out the works. Alternatively, the work could be carried out by Toshiba, at the request of the installer, offering total peace of mind for the end user.
The warranty is available to all Toshiba accredited installers completing the required training modules, subject to the equipment being installed and commissioned in accordance with the manufacturer's guidelines.
