Take-Back Scheme launched

Wolseley and Grundfos have exclusively joined forces to launch a Take-Back Scheme that encourages customers to return their old pumps, which are then remanufactured to make new high performing pumps.

The scheme for domestic and light commercial pumps, is already live in 70 Wolseley branches across the UK. The remanufacturing process, which is carried out by Grundfos, consumes only 50% of the water required by the conventional recycling processes and emits 13.5% less greenhouse gases.

Customers simply need to take their old pump to their local Wolseley branch, where it will be placed in storage before being taken away by Grundfos for remanufacturing at their facility in the Northeast of England. They can get more details by speaking to branch staff.

The circular economy is important as it eliminates waste and pollution, keeps valuable materials in use for longer and helps regenerate nature. It is seen as a vital approach in addressing environmental challenges.

Keith Dorling, managing director at Wolseley Plumbing & Heating said: “Wolseley is committed to supporting the transition to the zero-carbon economy. This project is a great illustration of working with a key supplier to help our customers reduce their environmental impact. We hope to develop this scheme further with Grundfos and are keen to work with other products manufacturers on similar schemes.”

Amy Roberts, category manager at Wolseley said: “As a business that supports the circular economy, Wolseley is proudly encouraging its customers to remanufacture their old pumps and help do their bit for the environment.”

Neal Saunders, regional sales manager at Grundfos, one of the largest pump manufacturers in the world, said: “Grundfos are pleased to be partnering with Wolseley on the Take-Back Scheme. This initiative provides a simple and easy way for installers to return end of life pumps to be remanufactured and have a positive impact both environmentally and socially.”
