Tackling condensation and mould this World Ventilation Day

Now in its fourth year, World Ventil8 Day will be held on Saturday, 8th November, with the theme of ‘Collaborate to Ventilate’. The day aims to highlight ventilation’s crucial role in healthy buildings and a healthy life, with a particular focus on how to help people improve ventilation in their buildings, whether it be a home, a school, a workplace or a social space.

World Ventilation Day was created by researchers and professional bodies who are passionate about the importance of ventilation and its vital contribution to creating a healthy and comfortable indoor environment. This year's event is well timed since it comes just after the implementation of Awaab's Law, with social housing landlords keen to find solutions to tackle condensation and mould and protect residents from the harmful effects of damp and mould. Tackling damp and mould through effective ventilation is vital to create healthier, compliant homes and reduce future costs.

This year’s theme is ‘Collaborate to Ventilate’, which was central to Vent-Axia’s development of its new Revive 7 Switchee-Enabled fan, which is a collaboration between Vent-Axia and Switchee, a leading smart technology provider for the social housing sector. As the first smart technology solution that not only identifies condensation and mould but also actively helps to prevent them, the Revive 7 Switchee Enabled allows landlords to detect damp, mould or poor air quality early, protecting residents and the fabric of the building. With Vent-Axia being the first UK ventilation company to provide remotely accessible fan data to housing providers, this proacitve approach saves landlords money by preventing the escalating costs associated with damp, mould and repairs.

“We are delighted to support World Ventilation Day again and continue to raise awareness of the vital role ventilation plays in our lives. This year it is particularly poignant that it follows shortly after the implementation of Awaab's Law, with social housing landlords keen to find cost-effective ways of combatting damp and mould in their properties” said Ashley Smith, Product Manager at Vent-Axia. “This year's theme is ‘Collaborate to Ventilate’, and that is exactly what we have done through our partnership with Switchee to provide landlords with effective, energy-efficient ventilation combined with real-time data so that landlords can manage their housing stocks effectively ensuring good indoor air quality for tenants and saving money that would be spent on costly damp and mould repairs.”
