T Clarke md steps down as firm sheds offices and jobs
[firstParagraph]
Tough market conditions for T.Clarke has led to the group closing two of its regional businesses, redundancies across the group and resulted in the md stepping down.
Barry DeFalco, managing director UK regional operations at the electrical engineering and contracting firm, has agreed to step down from the board and will leave the company on September 30, as part of restructuring plans.
A spokesman for the firm said: 'Market conditions across the business remain challenging. A strategic review of the Group's operations has recently been carried out and as a result the Board does not expect to meet current market expectations for the year'.
The group's order book stands at £170 million. The company's regional offices in Scotland, Newcastle, Leeds and Derby are trading well.
The group's interim results for the six months to June 30, 2009 will be announced on August 21.
DeFalco joined T.Clarke in 1971 and was appointed director in 1998.
