Switch2 Energy and Winckworth Sherwood to host free heat network seminars

How to improve heat network efficiency, and the Competitions & Markets Authority's (CMA) proposed regulation of the district and community heating sector, will be under discussion at two free breakfast seminars this autumn – hosted by Switch2 Energy and Winckworth Sherwood.

Ian Allan, head of research and development at Switch2 Energy, presents at a heat network seminar.

The first event on Thursday September 27 will look at how to optimise heat network performance by taking a more intelligent, informed and innovative approach to design, development, implementation and operation.

Industry experts from CMR energy consultants and Switch2 Energy will explain the elements of best practice in designing high performing district and community heating schemes, and how to use data insights from metering and Building Energy Management systems to radically improve operation and maintenance.

A second seminar on Thursday November 15 will cover the latest legislation and proposed regulation affecting the heat network sector.

Guest speakers from the CMA and Department for Business Industrial and Energy Strategy (BEIS) will provide the latest policy and regulatory updates.

They will be joined by Switch2's Ian Allan, and Colin Hall, of Winckworth Sherwood, who will advise on all elements of developing and delivering compliant, successful heat network schemes.

Ian Allan, head of research and development at Switch2 Energy, said: “In a new era of rapid growth and regulation for heat networks, it’s more important than ever that developers and operators draw on a wealth of best practice to provide reliable, affordable, compliant projects that meet the long-term needs of consumers, while helping to decarbonise the UK’s heat supply.”

Both seminars will take place at Winckworth Sherwood’s central London offices from 8.30am to 10am and are free to attend.
