Bury-based air movement and ventilation ductwork provider Senior Hargreaves has recruited five new apprentices.
The company, founded in 1872 and still operating out of its head office on Lord Street, has taken on the 17 and 18 year-old apprentices from Bury and Trafford Colleges.
Jordan Youngs, James Buchanan and Lewis Buchanan, all from Bury, are working towards an Excellence, Achievement and Learning (EAL) Level 3 NVQ extended diploma in fabrication and welding from Bury College, getting hands on experience in Senior Hargreaves' ductwork factory where products such as fire resistant and high-specification stainless steel ductwork are manufactured.
Jamie Dunne from Darwen and Jordan Birtwistle from Heywood are following a four year apprenticeship incorporating on-the-job experience within all departments of the business. At the same time, they are studying for academic qualifications undertaken at Trafford College, including a HNC in Building Services and NVQ Level 3 in Building Services Engineering Technology and Project Management.
The company has also boosted local employment prospects by taking on a number new staff members across the business since January.
Tim Hopkinson, CEO of Senior Hargreaves, said: 'Senior Hargreaves works closely with local schools and colleges to develop skills and training for local youngsters. We are proud to support investment in the future of local school-leavers, and our new apprentices will gain the knowledge and experience to equip them for a career in this industry.'
