SAS' heating panel praised for hindering harm efforts

HCP radiant heating, a division of SAS International, has been recognised by the Construction Products Association for the innovative design of its radiant heating panels, which has created a safer environment for prisoners and the vulnerable.
SAS
The firm's anti-ligature panels are used in secure facilities, including mental health units and prisons to reduce the chances of mentally ill patients and inmates self-harming or accidental burning themselves.

The slimline panels are mounted on the ceiling and are laid 'flush' with the ceiling. The 'anti-ligature' aspect means no hooks are visible for individuals to tie things to. As a result the panels are proving to be a popular choice in secure facilities.

This design has resulted in HCP radiant heating being included in the CPA's annual publication 'Construction Products Innovation and Achievement', which celebrates the most innovative products and processes developed by the construction products industry in the last twelve months.

John Staunton, Room comfort brand manager from SAS International said: 'Acknowledgement of HCP's Dutch-fold anti-ligature design, by the CPA is a tremendous achievement. We are delighted to be recognised in the health, safety and security section of the CPA's annual Construction Products Innovation and Achievement title.'
