Rural Energy, the provider of low carbon solutions and full turnkey project management is the first company in the UK to complete the Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Design and Installation Training Course from Bosch Commercial and Industrial.

The course comprised of two days training for Rural Energy staff at Bosch’s headquarters in Worcester, and means the biomass specialist is now a certified technology partner of the manufacturer of heating and cooling products. 

As a detailed look at the fundamentals and installation of CHP, course modules included hydraulics and buffer vessels, Building Information Modelling (BIM), wiring and electrics including G59 legislation, service and maintenance, and remote monitoring. Over 40 employees completed the training, allowing the energy company to now supply and install Bosch CHP products throughout the UK.

Paul Clark, managing director at Rural Energy commented: “We have been designing, installing and maintaining engineered low carbon solutions for commercial and industrial sites throughout the UK since 2002. We felt CHP technology offered the next step in providing energy efficient heating solutions with the training provided by Bosch helping us to ensure our customers receive high quality products and the best possible advice concerning their installations.”

Now by adding the Bosch boiler and CHP technologies into our product portfolio we can offer added value services to our clients and broaden our turnkey capability.”

Alex Parkinson, UK&I CHP Manager at Bosch Commercial and Industrial added, “CHP systems are becoming increasingly popular due to their ability to produce electricity and then use the generated heat, with the remainder stored in buffer tanks. This makes CHP an efficient solution especially when paired with a biomass as both the electricity and heat produced can be fully utilised helping to keep waste to a minimum.

“With Rural Energy as a technology partner we hope to develop a long standing relationship and are looking to build on the company’s history in Renewables. Working together we hope to develop a complete Anaerobic Digestion Biogas CHP offering as well as low carbon high efficiency energy centres.

The CHP modules will now be offered alongside other Bosch technologies which support biomass systems, including the manufacturer’s commercial boilers which are often used as peak load and backup sources of heating and hot water.
