Rehau acknowledged for innovation and ethos

Ross-on-Wye-based Rehau has been recognised by the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce Business Awards for its innovative products and its commitment to health and wellbeing in the workplace.

The polymer manufacturer was named among the final shortlist in the two categories for the business awards, and winners will be announced at the Annual Awards Ceremony this summer.

The awards identify businesses within the two counties that are excelling, and recognise the hard work of the teams behind the results.

Rehau was keen to showcase some fantastic innovation by entering its Rautitan product – a universal polymer pipework solution used for both heating and drinking water systems. Unlike conventional polymer pipework, Rautitan uses the Rehau compression sleeve jointing system, producing a permanently sealed joint without O-rings – even at -10°C.

Promising high performance, leak free joints, ease of installation and a certification to supply safe drinking water, the pipework solution has proved popular since it launched in 2017.

The firm also highlighted its enviable working environment and in-house schemes through the Health and Wellbeing in the Workplace category. Cultural development is vital to Rehau, with its Evolve Rehau programme aiming to make staff feel more empowered and happier within their working life. Other implemented workplace schemes include a running/walking route around the headquarters at Ross, a pedometer challenge in October 2017, employee discounts, and initiatives such as low calorie options in the staff canteen and fundraisers including a Three Peaks Challenge being undertaken by dozens of staff members later this year.

Martin Hitchin, chief executive of Rehau UK, said: “We’re delighted to have been shortlisted in the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce Business Awards. This is important to us as it reflects the great innovation we strive for continuously at Rehau, but also shines a light on how we work as a business to ensure our staff are healthy and their wellbeing is taken care of. Both are key elements to Rehau, so it’s great to have this recognised by the Chamber.”

Each year, the Chamber of Commerce announce the winners at the Annual Awards Ceremony after each entry is judged by a local and regional panel. Rehau will discover if they have been victorious at the ceremony on June 7.
