The contract will see the company working in partnership with main contractor Kier Moss, part of the regional construction division of the Kier Group, to deliver the new campus by January 2011.

Once finished, the redevelopment will provide students with facilities including a new visual arts, media and performing arts block with large theatre, as well as modern class rooms and workshops.

NG Bailey is installing and commissioning all mechanical and electrical services, with the company's specialist ICT arm, completing telephone and data cabling on the project. The finished campus is aiming for BREEAM 'very good' status and NG Bailey will be responsible for integrating building controls within the new and refurbished blocks.

Chris Newton, NG Bailey's acting chief executive said: 'We are delighted to have been selected for the Blossomfield campus development. Our reputation for integrated building services and systems is strong and we are seeing solid growth in the education sector as a result. We are proud to have created many outstanding learning environments in the past and look forward to bringing the skills and expertise we have gained to Solihull College.'

NG Bailey employs some 3,600 people and has a turnover in the region of £600m through its UK-based operations.

This arena regularly hosts large events such as concerts, conferences, theatre plays, exhibitions, live music and other conventions – so the site must have an energy efficient and carbon-reducing hot water system to achieve NetZero.
