NG Bailey scores £12m Brighton goal
The contract, worth £12m to NG Bailey, will see the company working in partnership with main contractor Buckingham Group, to deliver the new stadium by the end of May 2011.

The stadium will seat 22,500 fans and is being built next to the existing University of Brighton campus. As well as providing top quality stadium facilities for spectators the scheme will incorporate the club's office facilities, a club shop, corporate hospitality and conference facilities. It will also incorporate education space which will be used by the club's education partners.

NG Bailey was given the opportunity to influence the project at the initial design phase. The company developed a solution which would ultimately enhance the workings of the club, with the integration of technologies and systems to dramatically reduce the running costs of the stadium, while also reducing its carbon footprint. In fact, the stadium, when completed, is set to achieve a BREEAM very-good rating and Energy Performance Certificate B - the first stadium in the UK to achieve such a high standard.

The main fit-out is based around a decentralised plant solution, incorporating air source heat pumps, integrated controls and ICT elements, allowing the stadium to operate at optimum efficiency. Before the theory was put into practice, a thermal model representation of the building was created to ensure Part L compliance.

The main fit-out will see the installation and commissioning of all mechanical and electrical services, with the company's ICT specialists incorporating cabling as well as an Intelligent Building Management System (IBMS), to control elements including communications, CCTV, access controls and turnstile monitoring.

'We are delighted to have been selected for the Brighton & Hove Albion development,' said Chris Newton, NG Bailey's acting chief executive.

'We have solid credentials in this area, having delivered work at, amongst others, Cardiff City, Stadium:mk, Liberty and Old Trafford stadia. We are proud to have created many outstanding sporting environments in the past and look forward to bringing the skills and expertise we have gained to this development.'

NG Bailey offers a comprehensive range of services to the construction and property industries including mechanical & electrical and ICT design, prefabrication, installation and commissioning - coupled with lifetime maintenance and managed services.
