NG Bailey will install a new plant room to serve the entire station, work will start at the station's new western concourse, which is three times the size of the current area. and will bring shops and restaurants and improved access to the Underground, the new Thameslink station and St Pancras International station.

NG Bailey is also refurbishing the western range office block, which will be home to 150 station employees. The company will also deliver customer information services, security and communication installations including CCTV cameras and help points.

More than 47 million people use King's Cross station every year and this number is expected to rise by a further 10 million within a decade.

'A contract of this nature demonstrates our strength in the marketplace, expertise in this sector and our capability to deliver first-class projects', said Chris Newton, NG Bailey's acting chief executive.
